Hp Pavilion dv4 laptop

Very annoying bluish tint on my screen. It isn't overwhelmingly blue, but enough to see that natural colors are off. (esp. on white)

So, what might it be? The optic cable I keep reading about? IF that's the case, it may be something I can fix on my own.

Calibrating the colors via the Control Panel does nothing & I doubt updating the driver will either.

Thanks.

Boot into Safe Mode and see if the problem persists.

Yup. Same thing. :/
Looking like I may need to replace the entire screen.

I would lay odds on it being your graphics chipset. I have an old computer with a greenish tint. I thought it could be the monitor but changing the monitor still resulted in the tint.

If you connect the laptop to an external monitor do you still get the same tint? If you do then it's probably a defective graphics chip in the laptop.

Hmm, haven't tried that. I'll give it a go next week & get back here. Thanks.

Ok, so I tested it out with an external monitor & sure enough there was a noticeable difference. The IT guys told me its def' my laptop. I asked if I should get & install a new screen & they both discouraged that idea. Both suggested I just get a new cheap laptop on Amazon or Best Buy. In fact, their advice was to just get a new cheap one every year. They recommended Acer or Asus brands.

What say you?

I would say that buying a new laptop every 12 months would be a little extreme. So long as a budget laptop has the facilities you want/need then I would hope to get at least two years out of it. Of course, if a budget laptop does not have the facilities you want/need then it wouldn't do you any good anyway.
